The Bookshop was established way back in 1987 under the old Diocese of Mt. Kenya East as a branch of the then ‘Diocesan bookshop’, Embu, with the aim of providing Christian material for the growth of the church as well as serving humanity in provision of office stationery and learning materials.
After the creation of Kirinyaga Diocese in 1991 the bookshop was elevated to become the Diocesan Bookshop for the new Diocese. In 1993 Kerugoya branch was started. It was during this time that we changed our name from ‘Diocesan’ to ‘By-Faith Bookshop’. This was driven by the fact that the shops were not very strong financially but we had a lot of faith in the Lord that we would continue to grow.
In 2003 the bookshop was separated from communications department and started operating as an independent department that is expected to meet all its obligations and be self sustaining. We are a registered member of the Kenya Booksellers and stationers Association, offering the following quality services at affordable prices:
Sale of school text books
Religious books and all Church supplies (Altar Wine & Wafers)
Computer and Printing Services
Book binding and lamination etc.
We are as well an outlet for departmental items like KAMA, MU, KAYO and Brigade flags and other Materials.
The bookshop also has a mobile unit (Bookshop Mashinani). This unit normally visits Christians at their local Churches either in the company of the bishop while in his Episcopal duties among them Confirmations, Consecration of new Churches etc. or on our own and making God’s word available to all.The bookshop has three members of staff namely: Mr. Francis Mwai, Mrs. Mary Muthoni and Ms. Nancy Maina as Manager and sales Ladies respectively.
