Safari Ya Bibilia
Let us all crave to visit Safari ya Bilbia retreat Centre
The Anglican Church of Kenya Kirinyaga Diocese consecrated a chapel at Kamigua Parish in a colourful event presided over by His Lord’s Bishop Rt. Rev. Joseph Kibucwa. The event was also attended by Christians drawn from all corners of the Diocese, Vicars, Deacons, Arch deacons among many others.
The consecration of the chapel is a major milestone in the realization of a journey that began 26 years ago. The retreat centre is now good to go with establishment of a Chapel for Christians who wish to take walk and reflect on the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
The Centre is located along Kutus-Embu road opposite Joymax Factory. Speaking while consecrating a chapel build by the Church, Kirinyaga ACK Bishop Rt. Rev. Joseph Kibucwa noted that the biblical journey will help believers deepen their faith by taking them through the word. The dream of having the retreat centre started in 1990 when the church bought the 13 acre Kamigua Diocesan land and later started being developed by planting trees and charting paths to the chapel in 1992.
So far, efforts have been concentrated on planting more trees, flowers, fencing and putting up 12 shelters for prayers. To this end we have witnessed tremendous growth in the Centre; for instance, plans to have a construction of a theatre are underway. On our part at the Centre, as a way of enhancing the guiding Motto of the Diocese of Kirinyaga to proclaim the Gospel of Christ, maintain the culture of worship, inspire all persons with the love of Christ so that they may live life in abundance, we are always ready to welcome you and serve you with the word of God.
We also strive to work towards a mission of holistically equipping God’s people using the Gospel of Christ. And thus all and a sundry are welcome to visit the centre. At Safari, we know certainly that nurturing Christians who are or would want to become avid readers of bible and develop an attitude of spending consistent time reading the bible and praying is our main task.
In his speech during the consecration, the Bishop noted with a lot of concern that the Safari ya Bibilia is not for leisure or holiday but for spiritual nourishment patterned as a journey through the Bible, taking the visitor through the journey of faith as lived by our forefathers but looks to our future as postulated in prophesy. He also observed that the retreat takes visitors on journey that narrates a story with a multi dimension where they are able to see, listen, learn and experience.
As thus, readers and visitors are given a chance to only grow their Bible gen but also an opportunity to deepen their faith in Christ Jesus. Those who have visited the Centre unanimously come to an understanding that the story not only motivates them to read the Bible, but gives visitors a kind of a template upon which you can feel the Bible message. As a result, Safari ya Bibila has proved to be the most conducive zone for individual and group prayer retreats. We welcome all Christians to visit.
